Project overview
Tally is a concept mobile app built around one idea: a short list of today's tasks, and a timer that helps you finish them one at a time.
The opportunity
Many task apps grow into long, stressful lists. This concept explores a calmer approach that limits the day to a handful of tasks and connects each one to a focused work session.
Project goals
- Make adding a task take a few seconds
- Encourage a short, realistic daily list
- Connect tasks directly to focus sessions
- Work offline and sync when a connection is available
Solution and design direction
The home screen shows only today. Tasks can be added with one tap, and starting a focus session from a task opens a full-screen timer with minimal distractions. A gentle progress ring shows how much of the day's list is done.
Technologies and platforms
Proposed for this concept; real projects are scoped individually.
Platforms supported: iOS, Android
Key features
- Today view. One focused list for the current day.
- Focus timer. Start a session from any task.
- Offline first. Everything works without a connection.
- Accessible design. Large touch targets and support for system text sizes.
Screens and mockups
Development approach
A clickable prototype is tested with a small group of users before development. The app is then built in short cycles, with test builds distributed for feedback ahead of the store submission.
